Don’t Shoot The Breeze
A local Fianna Fáil Councillor has urged that members of the public don’t try to shoot at the wind. “We’ve had a lot of bad weather lately but this is not the way to react,” he said.
The councillor – who wishes to remain nameless – is worried that Sligo people will copy their American cousins by firing shots in the air in a vain attempt to change the weather.
Before IRMA landed in Florida one clever dick started a Facebook page that aimed (excuse the pun) to get followers to fire their shotguns at the hurricane and stop it in its tracks. The page attracted over 53 thousand people.
A local, Miami based, sheriff pleaded with locals to ignore the activity as it wouldn’t work and bullets could take an unknown trajectory and come back at the shooter.
