Drone Disrupts Sligo Airport
A drone flying around Strandhill has put the airport out of action.
The object was spotted earlier today by an eagle eyed member of the public in the sky above the airport. The authorities were quickly informed and an alert was issued by the Aviation Authority of Ireland – that’s the airport and plane people as opposed to the bird people. And not plain/ordinary people.
The alert has been issued for the rest of the day and will disrupt all flights both in and out – i.e. landing and taking off. The airport is located beside the popular seaside village of Strandhill.
A local farmer has offered to blast the drone out of the sky with his double barreled shotgun. Mr Francis McFarmer told SligoSligoNews earlier today “Dag nabitt if I don’t git dat droone wit me gun.” He also offered to shoot the “little prick” in control of the object.
This only goes to show the resilience and spirit of the local community. Hopefully Mr McFarmer “gits” the drone.
