Heatwave – Will It Ever End

It seems that not everyone has a smile on their face to coincide with the June heatwave.

A local Fianna Fail politician and small farmer has implored the powers that be to “end this incessant hot torment.” Speaking today in Sligo the councillor who owns a farm near Beltra told an SSN reporter “without rain my crops will die soon, my cattle will collapse in the field.”

When it was put to him that farmers are never happy he stated that at this stage he was “praying for rain.” He went on to maintain that he didn’t want to ruin everyone’s fun but this country isn’t in the Mediterranean. “We’re in the EU alright but this is ridiculous. All this sunshine, sure we’re just not used to it,” he continued.

The met office promised thunder storms this evening but they haven’t materialised and their website says it will be hot and sunny for the foreseeable future.
