Pint Sized Road Signs
A Sligo county councillor has called on all concerned to produce new road signs in preparation for the possible roll out of drink driving roads.
There have been calls in recent days to designate certain roads as specific drink drive roads and that special permission could be obtained for drinkers to drive on these roads with alcohol taken. However the councillor stated that to be responsible there would have to be a limit on the amount consumed.
“These signs could point out the amount allowed and bear in mind,” he stressed “this is a limit not a target”. He then supplied SligoSligoNews with examples of the types of signs that could be used. It’s believed (here in the office) he spent the best part of last night designing the signs in photoshop. He intends to bring them to the attention of his party leader later today for approval.
The councillor who wishes to remain anonymous said we should be prepared when the government eventually brings in these new measures (excuse the pun). It’s understood that the measure (again excuse the pun) will be adopted by both major parties in the run up to the next general election – presumably May 2020.
A spokesperson for the Gardai said it wouldn’t be a problem when it came to enforcement of new laws for drink driving roads. “It’s easy to tell if a person is half-cut or how many pints or shots or units of alcohol they may have consumed be the look of them,” she added.
