Sligo FF Polly – “Government Must Ban Golf”

Following the controversial events this week, in Cliften co. Galway, known as “golfgate” a local Fianna Fail councillor has called on the government to ban “this divisive foreign game”.

“This evil game,” Thaddeus McPadden-Murphy-O’Rourke told SligoSligoNews earlier today “was brung to these shores by invading English hordes and it should be rooted out of the country. It’s got some fine upstanding Irish men in trouble for nothing”. The remark was greeted by cheers from his colleagues at a gathering in a local hotel – closely adhering to social distancing rules.

“Sure didn’t the great  Oscar Wilde himself say “Golf is a good walk spoiled”. When our reporter pointed out that was actually supposed to be Mark Twain, Thaddeus angrily replied that he knew his Oscar Wilde and he was one hundred and ten percent correct on the matter.

Thaddeus boldly stated “Here today in Sligo I’m starting a grass roots movement to force the government to ban this so-called sport and the wankers who play it.”
