Sligo Postie Predicts Summer Weather by Watching Horny Dragonflies

Rain followed by heavy showers and a downpour of biblical proportions then scattered outbreaks everywhere with mist in between. Hail by Sunday. No sun for most of the next two months (except for dates listed below) until the holidays are over and the kids have returned to school. Then rain.

12 July – it’ll be a glorious day all over the county but pissing rain everywhere else.

22 July – there’ll be great drying out that day so get the washing done early in the morning to hang out. It will be windy but overcast.

That’s the kind of accurate reporting that Met Eireann or yer man in New Zealand (wherever that is) is not able to come up with. And a big boo hoo to the postman in Donegal because we have our own one now and he does the local weather and all that.

Johnnie “Fla’ Cap” O’Reilly has been readdragonflies-matinging the mating activities of dragon flies for over twenty years now. He says we’ll have a mixed summer and it’s all down to their horny activity.

It all started when as a young man Fla’ Cap was called in for his tea by his mother who said she thought it might rain. Sure enough Johnnie felt a few drops on his arm and face.

As he was picking up his jumper he noticed the two Anisopteras (scientific name for dragonflies) going at it hammer and tongs. He told his mam but she clattered him. It rained that evening.

The same thing happened the next night after Fla’ Cap had witnessed the horny insects engage in a threesome.

The popular postie has issued the above forecast for our “summer”.
