Smartphone Light Speeds Ageing
US boffins suggest that light coming from smartphones at night could make humans age faster.
Brain
Experiments on fruit flies show that over-exposure to blue light results in brain impairment and a shorter life for the creatures. Animal rights groups tried to protest but no one listened as they were only working on flies.
Flies
Scientists have advised that people using a smartphone or a laptop at night should wear amber tinted glasses to protect their eyes and avoid premature ageing. The condition has been described as a reverse Benjamin Button.
Cells
However boffins are unsure if their findings can be applied to humans – at this stage it’s just a possibility. They argue that if blue light can affect the cells of a fly then if may also affect human cells.
Phone
Undeterred some local Sligo teens have been using this information and spending an inordinate amount of time looking at their phones at night. It’s thought that they want to look older in order to get served in pubs.
