We could have been Bird-Brained
The loss of a tiny fragment of protein meant that instead we developed as mammals with a central nervous system and proper brains. We should be grateful for the lack of this single molecule. That molecule is called PTBP1.
A leading scientist by way of empirically demonstrating this fact beyond any doubt held up his thumb and first finger and edged them very, very, very, very close together saying “it was this close.”
